A. Travel Information

Kuala Lumpur is served by two main airports; Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1, KLIA T1 (formerly known as KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2, KLIA T2 (formerly known as KLIA 2). Globecom 2023 delegates can reach the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from these airports using various transportation options. KLIA T1 is Malaysia's primary international airport and a major hub in Southeast Asia, situated approximately 50 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur's city center. On the other hand, KLIA T2, the world's largest terminal dedicated to low-cost carriers, is conveniently located just 2 kilometers away from KLIA T1. KL Sentral is Malaysia's largest transportation hub, connecting to six rail networks, including the KLIA Express Rail Link, KLIA Transit, RAPID KL (Kelana Jaya and Ampang line), KTM Komuter, KTM Intercity, and KL Monorail services. For more information, visit: http://www.klsentral.com.my/

B. Ground Transport (From Airport to KLCC)

1. By KLIA Ekspres

The KLIA Ekspres is a non-stop, Airport rail link service between the KLIA T1 and the Kuala Lumpur Sentral (KL Sentral). The journey takes 28 minutes with a fee of MYR55/one way. Travelers can purchase the tickets either by automated ticketing machines or by ticketing staff at the stations. 

For more information, visit: https://www.kliaekspres.com/ From KL Sentral Station, you will have to catch a metered taxi or e-hailing services to get to KLCC and the nearby hotels. Alternatively, for those with light baggage, they can use the cheaper Light Rail Transit (LRT) ("Kelana Jaya Line") service from KL Sentral to KLCC Station (KLCC Station is 5 stations away from KL Sentral). At KLCC Station, turn left after exiting the turnstiles and walk through the Suria KLCC shopping centre Concourse level to the Centre Court. Turn left and make your way past Cold Storage to the Guardian Pharmacy where there is an air-conditioned pedestrian walkway through to the KLCC. 2. By Taxi 

For convenience, especially for those with big luggage, it is advisable that attendees take the airport taxis direct to the KLCC and nearby hotels. Airport taxis both budget and premier are available at the airport on a 24-hour basis. Coupons can be purchased at the taxi coupon counters located at International Arrival Hall and Domestic Arrival Hall.

3. By Bus 

Shuttle bus service is available from KLIA T1 and KLIA T2 to KL Sentral. Please ride on the Kelana Jaya Line LRT from KL Sentral to KLCC Station.

 

C. Transportation within Kuala Lumpur

LRT

The Light Rail Transit (LRT) covers a distance of 45.1km and consists of 36 stations. Daily operating hours are between 0600 - 2400. Season tickets can be purchased at any LRT station.

Monorail

The Kuala Lumpur Monorail system in Malaysia serves 11 stations running 8.6 km and its route starts from Titiwangsa Station to the KL Sentral Station. Daily operation hours are 0600 to 2400 and it is operating at 3-minute intervals.

Commuter Trains

KTM Komuter operates speedy electric train services from the KL railway station to designated points within the city as well as to Port Klang-KL Sentral-Batu Caves and Sg Gadut-KL Sentral-Tg Malim.

City Buses

Major bus lines service the city and suburban areas is Rapid KL.

Taxis

All taxis in KL are equipped with meters and can be hailed at designated taxi stands or booked via phone.

Car Rental

Cars can be hired from car rental agencies. Drivers must be in possession of a valid international driving license. Drivers must always drive on the left side of the road.
